LetUsTalk| a modern pin up inspired look

Hi guys! Long time no talk, how the hell are ya?! Playboy Makeup challenged me to create a modern twist on the classic pin up look, so I of course accepted!

I wanted the focus to be all on the eyes, so I kept the skin base quite light adding a light contour and a flush of colour. I LOVE the lips, the lipstick I'm wearing makes them look soooo soft and ties in with the whole look seamlessly (more on that later ;))

My journey through everything face base has been pretty disastrous at best. I've been dark orange, complete with matching white neck and I've been so pale people have thought I have some life threatening disease. I've scoured the shelves of both high street and high end in hope that something would quench my perfect base thirst. Welcome Skin Base by Illamasqua.

I'd heard on the block that my local Pound land were selling high street brands, now I'm not talking that chit chat stuff that turns your face into an exploding volcano. No, think Rimmel, Loreal, Revlon. When I heard this juicy piece of goss I was fast in my local poundy before you could say bargain bin. Delving into the deep depths of PoundLands beauty shelves I picked up some absolute steals which I would like to share with you lovely people today.

LetUsTalk| meet ultrabland, my bff from lush

 You know how it is, pop into Lush for a bath bomb and end up getting charmed into buying something you didn't need and already have 178,637,095 of. I have an overwhelming hatred of upsetting/offending people so when the lovely sales lady offered to put some UltraBland on my hand, I relented.

In all honesty it was love at first touch. I had been looking for a really nice, balmy cleanser for SO long that this was quite obviously fate. 

It's sort of a hybrid between a cream and balm cleanser. You apply the TINIEST amount, put it on dry skin and massage it all over, paying extra attention to flakey areas and stubborn mascara, then you wash it off with a - hot as you can handle - flannel. 

This is when things got a bit mental...the lovely sales lady, she propositioned me. She mentioned that she had suffered with chronic skin problems for most of her life, to the extent that she had been hospitalised. Lovely sales lady said that using just ultra bland for 40 days and 40 nights (no pre-cleanse, no face wipes, no cleanser, no toner, no exfoliator, no serum , no moisturiser, no nuttin'!) had cleared up her skin in a way that no steroids or topical ointments ever could. 

I was sold. So I threw my money at her, ran home and took all my makeup off, cleansed, toned and moisturised all with one bloody tub. At first I was sceptical (coming from the girl who chucks at least 6 products on her face twice a day), but waking up on day 2 with skin as soft as a freshly lacquered finger nail, I couldn't argue with the results. 

 Throughout the 40 days and 40 nights I noticed my scarring and pigmentation has been reduced dramatically, my combo skin was acting normal and I wasn't breaking out or getting dry patches even during my "time"!! HOW DO YOU DO IT LUSH?!?! 

Even after the 40 days and nights, this still remained a staple in my skincare routine. I never ever finish any skincare products, mainly because I get bored and distracted by other products. So seeing the state of my betrothed does speak volumes about how darn good it truly is. 

The only reasons I haven't continued using this solely forever is: 

- I'm so scared that my skin will get used to the ingredients and stop looking so lovely after I have massaged this in.

- Sometimes when I've had a shit day - no in fact any day - I like to sit in my bathroom and pretend I'm a princess having a spa day. Slathering generous amounts of potions, lotions and oils on my face. And ultrabland no matter how amazing it is, doesn't give me that luxe feeling I'm afraid. 

The packaging is great, as always from Lush, simple, sleek and sturdy minimising seepage. The price is an amazing 10.95 for 100g of product which lasted me 4 months, although I'm pretty sure you are meant to throw it away after 2 months... OOPS ;)

I urge you if you are reading this (anyone?!?) go and buy ultrabland. I don't care if it's 2am and Lush is shut, you get yourself on their website and you order it. You do the 40 day and night challenge and let me know how you get on! But remember... Just the tiniest amount, less is more!! 

Ps. This one time, I used this in my hair and elbows with shockingly fantastic results. Shhhhhh

LetUsTalk| a swear word

Saying I have depression and anxiety in a public place sparks off the same reaction as if I were to say c**t in a public place. People look at me with outrage, fear, disgust and pity. Why? Why is it such a taboo thing to say? 1 in 4 people suffer with some form of mental health illness in their lifetime.. Think about that next time you're on a bus, in a meeting at work, or sitting with your friends.

LetUsTalk| three products that saved my life,

I took a risk for the first time in my 21 years and had bits of blonde added to the ends of my already dark brown hair. I was craving a change and didn't want to chop inches off but definitely wanted to add some dimension to my long locks. It was a saving grace and a decision I should of made YEARS ago, my hair looked longer, my face slimmer and it gave me a whole new wave of confidence. The only issue now is that my once soft and supple hair now felt, in all honesty, dead! So, I want to talk about three products that have saved my hairs life and have given it back its lustre!!!

LetUsTalk| acquainting myself with smashbox

Let me start by saying… I don’t have hazel eyes they are very much brown but I saw this at this at the Company Cosmetics Store which is basically a discount high end makeup store; and just couldn’t say no!! I don’t know what it was that drew me towards it, normally I would consider these colours far too “out there” to wear out the house. Maybe it was the sleek and smooth packaging or maybe it was the dream of being a girl who didn’t always stick to her everyday neutral eye…

LetUsTalk| when I met you in the summer...

I hate tinted moisturisers/glorified tinted moisturisers (bb creams). There, I said it! I received this "VitaZing" in a gift box last year and after a quick swatch I swiftly put it to the back of my makeup drawer. I am a full cover girl and this is anything but! The surprisingly thick formula comes out a white colour before sheering out into a skin tone matching my face. I was afraid that this would never cover my imperfections and wouldn’t offer me the staying power that my combination skin so badly needs.
